Who owns your company Skyline Logistics, and when did you establish the company in Kenya?

I am the owner (it is a privately owned company). We have been in operation for fifteen years.

Tell us about the main ports of Kenya – which ones are mainly used for the country’s import/export and which ones are mainly used for project cargo?

Currently we only have one in Kenya, Mombasa Port, which serves all cargo.

Can you organise inland transportation in Kenya and is it possible to tranship cargo to other countries, if so which ones are suitably reached via Kenya? If that is possible, where does customs clearance take place? 

Yes we can handle inland transport in Kenya and yes it possible to transship cargoes via Kenya to other countries. The countries that we can transship to are Uganda, South Sudan, DRC Congo and Burundi.

Customs clearance takes place at the Port of Mombasa, JKIA Nairobi and also along the borders on both sides.

Can you provide us with some examples of project cargo or special cargo that you have handled?

In the project cargo category, we have handled manufacturing machines for African Coffee Roasters (EPZ) and electrical transformers for KPLC.

In the category of special cargo, we handle hospital medical goods as well as personal vehicles.

Are you a member of any international networks at the moment and if so have they been useful to you?

Yes we are in four international networks (CLC Projects, WWPC, FNC, and MFN), the networks are very useful we have managed to secure international business and expand our company at large.

How is the economy in Kenya doing at the moment?

It is growing fast, Kenya’s GDP growth is 5.3%.

Yes, we have many Chinese and Indian investments in the country.
