20th September 2019

Dear Readers,

Bo H. DrewsenIt is the third Friday of September, so the second issue of Project Cargo Weekly Leisure is here. I think you’ll find we have a few good interviews for you. We start off talking to a french contact of mine living in Melbourne, then follow that up by chatting to a Finnish contact of mine who resides in Singapore. Finally, we speak with an Italian contact living in Hamburg. It would seem from these choices that everyone is living outside their native country nowadays, but in a global world, I suppose it is possible and more and more it’s becoming the norm rather than the exception.

Anyway, all three of the interviewees work in the shipping industry and it is interesting to hear their opinions on holidays, the best and worst places and stories, and what their future holiday plans are.

I don’t have a holiday currently booked, but I’ll be taking fourteen days off from 3rd January 2020 and I’ll spend some R&R time in Bangkok, Thailand, with the family. I am very much looking forward to that, particularly after the usual stress of Christmas and the shopping craze that nowadays seems to start as early as mid-October.

Enjoy the interviews and we wish you a good long weekend ahead. I am sure you deserve it, and if you don’t, well, enjoy it anyway!

As always, I remain,

Yours sincerely,
Bo H. Drewsen

Interview: Mr. Matthieu Boinel

Business Development Manager – ANL, Australia

You have travelled the world, I know. Where would you say was the best holiday experience you ever had?

Tanzania holds a very special place in my heart, and I remember so many great moments. The variety of landscapes is amazing. There are activities for everyone, whether you like hiking or sunbathing, the landscapes are breathtaking and have remained untouched. Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the tallest mountains one can climb with no oxygen assistance. Tanzania also hosts one of the oldest African national parks…

Interview: Mr. Antti Nevalainen

Project Manager – Wiima Logistics, Singapore

Antti Nevalainen

First off Antti, would you tell us a bit about yourself, your current job and career leading up until your current status residing in Singapore?

I just turned thirty-eight, I am a happy husband and proud father of our daughter and I am currently living and working in Singapore. I have been working in Logistics my whole career, but my working life abroad and work in shipping started in 2007 when I was bag-packing with my friend in Southeast Asia. On our way back to Europe…

Interivew: Mr. Adriano F. Rumpf

Special Traffic/Project Dept. – COSCO Shipping Lines, Germany

What are you looking for particularly when going on a holiday?

I generally tend to go where the temperatures are good (an average of minimum 25°C ) and the sun is shining. In Hamburg, the climate and weather conditions are, to be honest, not for me. So, I usually try to escape to warm regions, preferably by the sea.

As I like to explore places, but I also pretty much enjoy just staying at the beach for days. I try to mix both. The decision of what I am looking for in particular depends a lot on my mood. As long as there is the sea and…

Beautiful Lofoten (Norway/Arctic Circle)

Editor’s Note:
The Norwegian island of Lofoten in the north of the country, close to the Arctic Circle, is spectacular. Although I am living not too far from the place in Stockholm, Sweden, I’ve still never managed to pay this island a visit, but I have now added it on my to-do list for the foreseeable future. It’s strange, isnt it? Sometimes the most beautiful places are closest to you and you don’t always have to travel across time zones for beauty. Granted good weather does have an impact and for that there are certainly no guarantees in the north of Norway.
