Dear Readers,
It is the third Friday of September, so the second issue of Project Cargo Weekly Leisure is here. I think you’ll find we have a few good interviews for you. We start off talking to a french contact of mine living in Melbourne, then follow that up by chatting to a Finnish contact of mine who resides in Singapore. Finally, we speak with an Italian contact living in Hamburg. It would seem from these choices that everyone is living outside their native country nowadays, but in a global world, I suppose it is possible and more and more it’s becoming the norm rather than the exception.
Anyway, all three of the interviewees work in the shipping industry and it is interesting to hear their opinions on holidays, the best and worst places and stories, and what their future holiday plans are.
I don’t have a holiday currently booked, but I’ll be taking fourteen days off from 3rd January 2020 and I’ll spend some R&R time in Bangkok, Thailand, with the family. I am very much looking forward to that, particularly after the usual stress of Christmas and the shopping craze that nowadays seems to start as early as mid-October.

What are you looking for particularly when going on a holiday?

The Norwegian island of Lofoten in the north of the country, close to the Arctic Circle, is spectacular. Although I am living not too far from the place in Stockholm, Sweden, I’ve still never managed to pay this island a visit, but I have now added it on my to-do list for the foreseeable future. It’s strange, isnt it? Sometimes the most beautiful places are closest to you and you don’t always have to travel across time zones for beauty. Granted good weather does have an impact and for that there are certainly no guarantees in the north of Norway.
